Basketball Seniors to Be Celebrated Friday; Streaming on Madill Hudl Youtube Channel Expected

Milestones reached. Records set. Scholarships signed. Basketballs dunked. Those are but a few of the highlights from a notable season for the Madill boys and girls basketball team that includes the 2022 senior class. They will be recognized between the varsity games tonight at about 7:45. The varisty girls begin at 6:30.

Jayden Weiberg reached the 1,000 points scored in a career mark on Jan. 22. In the process, she is setting the record for career three-point field goals made by a Madill girl each time she makes a shot from that distance the remainder of her senior campaign. She has already signed to play college basketball for East Central University in Ada.

Zeke Fuentes has won two tournament most valuable player awards in his senior season while helping the ‘Cats post a stellar 17-3 mark heading into the final two games of the regular season. Madill has an opportunity to tie the regular season win total of 18 from the Lake Country Conference championship season of 2019-20 tonight with a win over Plainview. There is still a possiblity of another conference title this season. Madill played in all three tournament championship contests of the year. They won the Comet Holiday Classic in Dickson and the Atoka Wampus Cat Classic. The ‘Cats fell in the Madill Winter Classic championship tilt in December. The girls took the consolation crown in the Madill Winter Classic and third the Atoka Wampus Cat Classic.

It’s not often that dunks are made in high school competition. Madill’s boys have had three dunks in games this season. Kendall Robertson had the most recent dunk against Lone Grove Tuesday. He had a dunk earlier in a game at the Wampus Cat Classic in Atoka and Nick Northcutt dunked in a game Jan. 29 against Atoka. Prior to that, it had been since a dunk in the 2013-14 season by Gereall Jordan against the Dickson Comets. Samuel Bond had what proved to be the LCC championship-clinching dunk in the 2012-13 year against the Plainview Indians.

Robertson has signed  a letter of intent to play college football at Southern Nazarene University and Joslyn Stumblingbear signed to run cross country and track at William Woods University in Missouri.

The games are expected to be streaming tonight on Madill’s Hudl Youtube Channel Click Here to Watch Friday.
