Madill Wraps Regular Year in Hoops Tuesday Against Kingston, Games Expected on Madill Hudl Stream

The Madill varsity basketball teams will wrap the regular season by hosting Kingston Tuesday night. It is a Lake Country Conference game. The girls and boys both lost in December to Kingston on the road. The Wildcats bounced back with a 51-45 win over the Redskins in the championship game of the Atoka Wampus Cat Classic Tournament Jan. 22. However, that was not the conference contest. The conference contest is the second time two opponents play unless they only play once during the season not including tourneys.

For the boys, the winner of the game tonight will be the Lake Country Conference champion for the 2021-22 season. It would mark the second such LCC title for the boys in three seasons under head coach Brett Weiberg. They claimed the LCC title in the 2019-20 campaign with an 18-5 record in the regular season with Weiberg. They wound up finishing 19-7 overall that year. The Wildcats are 18-3 going into tonight’s tilt. They have an opportunity to equal the most wins by a boys team in two years. Madill only lost to Byng in Lake Country Conference action this year.

For the girls (11-10) under head coach Shawn Runyan, a victory over Kingston would mean a winning record and provide momentum heading into the playoffs that begin Friday at home against Pauls Valley. The Lady ‘Cats are playing winning basketball in the late stages of the season. They took down Marietta Feb. 7 after having lost to the Lady Indians twice prior to last Monday. They only lost  by single digits to Byng on the road back on Feb. 1. They pushed Plainview to the end on Feb. 11. It was tied 44-all in the fourth quarter before suffering the 56-47 setback. 

The student section ‘Cat Pack’ theme for tonight is ‘blackout’. They sit in the southeast corner bleachers on the Madill side of the Wildcat Fieldhouse at home.
