I graduated from Durant High School in 1989 and Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1994.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University
Master’s Degree in School Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University
I started teaching in Madill in 2004. I taught K – 5th grade art for one year, 4th grade for 12 years, 2nd grade for one year, and moved to administration in 2017 as the ECC and Elementary assistant principal. I became Madill Elementary principal in July 2019.
I started my teaching career at B. McDaniel Middle School in Denison, TX in 2002. I taught 8th grade there for two years before coming to Madill Elementary School. Before teaching, I worked at Southeastern Electric Cooperative in Durant for 11 years.
I am married to Devin Birdsong, Rock Creek High School principal. We have been married for 33 years and have one son, Derek. Derek and his wife, Allyson have two children, Dawson and Sunnie.
I always tell people that school is my hobby. I love working with kids and learning new ways to help them achieve their goals. When I’m not at school, I love to be at home or spending time with my grandkids.
